4c is proud to be supporting one of Ireland’s largest food distributors as they seek to appoint a People Director. Operating across the UK and Ireland, our client is dedicated to providing first-class service to their customers through the timely and effective delivery of a wide range of products. 

Reporting to the Group Managing Director and board, the People Director will lead, manage, and develop the HR function of the business, creating and delivering a robust HR strategy which will focus on people development across the whole business, ensuring training and development is a clear objective on board’s agenda.

Part of the senior team the People Director role will be a wide ranging role, encompassing both the delivery of day to day best practice of HR services as well as the strategic development of the HR function to support the growth of the business by adding value and minimising risks.

The successful candidate should possess the following experience:

  • Significant experience working at a senior HR role within a medium to large organisation with responsibilities of creating and delivering a comprehensive HR strategy which is focused on staff development, retention and recruitment.
  • Track record of creating and delivering HR activities which are aimed at positioning a company as an employer of choice, building strategic partnerships with key external stakeholders including, but not limited to, universities, regional colleges, and further education bodies.
  • Evidence of leading and successfully implementing strategic staff surveys, providing crucial input to senior leadership team and board in order to support business critical decisions.
  • Solid working knowledge of employment legislation affecting employees and employers in NI coupled with proven experience of providing strategic input to senior leadership team as well as briefing a board of directors.
  • Proven experience of confidently engaging with employees from shop floor to director level.
  • CIPD qualified level 5 (associate level).

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of operating across a multi-site and multi-shift environment.
  • Successful experience of previously achieving high accreditation levels of Investors in People.
